Reigning Supercars champion Brodie Kostecki is set to make a major move in the world of motorsport, joining Dick Johnson Racing (DJR) for the 2025 season. Kostecki will fill the seat vacated by Anton de Pasquale, who is set to move to Team 18.
Kostecki’s Excitement for a New Chapter
Kostecki, who will team up with veteran driver Will Davison at DJR, expressed his enthusiasm for joining a team with such a storied history in motorsport. “I am excited to join the Shell V-Power Racing Team, a team with such a rich history of success,” Kostecki said. “This partnership represents a new chapter for me, and I look forward to working alongside Will and the entire team.”
Team co-owner Dick Johnson shared his excitement about bringing in the 26-year-old champion, who had missed the opening rounds of the 2024 season. “Brodie is one of the top drivers in the series, and we’re excited to bring him on board the Shell V-Power Racing Team,” Johnson stated. He praised Kostecki for his deep mechanical knowledge and understanding of the car, traits that will be valuable for the team. “With the combination of Will and Brodie, we look forward to chasing wins and returning to the top next season,” Johnson added.
Erebus Motorsport Signs Rising Star Cooper Murray
In a parallel move, Cooper Murray, a rising star currently competing in the Super2 series, has been confirmed to step up to the main game with Erebus Motorsport. Murray will replace Kostecki at Erebus, the reigning championship-winning team, having signed a multi-year deal.
“It’s a very exciting time for me and the Erebus Motorsport team,” Murray noted. “We’re all looking forward to working together in the years to come. I’ve been working towards this moment since I started racing karts when I was 10, so I’m ready to make the most of it.” Murray will be joining Jack Le Brocq in Erebus’s lineup of Chevrolet Camaros for the 2025 season.
Team owner Betty Klimenko highlighted the significance of Murray’s signing. “With the signing of Cooper, we’re reaffirming our commitment to developing young talent,” Klimenko stated. “With Jack now taking a leadership role in our team, it’s the perfect time to introduce a young driver who can learn and grow alongside him.”
Drivers Focus on the 2024 Season Remainder
While the announcements about Kostecki and Murray signal exciting changes for the 2025 motorsport season, there’s still plenty of racing left in 2024. The upcoming Sandown 500 and the Bathurst 1000 will be crucial for all drivers involved in these transitions. Kostecki will be partnered with Todd Hazelwood for these races, while Murray will team up with Craig Lowndes in a Triple Eight wildcard entry. Meanwhile, DJR’s Super2 Champion Kai Allen, who recently signed with Grove Racing, will also be in action alongside Davison in the #17 Ford Mustang, getting an early start on their 2025 collaboration.
These moves mark a significant reshuffling in the Supercars paddock, with each team looking to optimize its lineup and make strides in the evolving world of motorsport.
